UFO PLAYGROUND

The UFO Playground is a wooden play structure designed and built for a boutique Airbnb in Crestone, Colorado. It is a flying saucer shaped play space raised on timber posts with two slides (a spiral slide and a straight/wavy slide), two climbing walls, and two stairs/ladder access points. Inside is a small play area with a central dome and six smaller dome-style skylights that bring natural light into the space.

The goal was to create something fun, solid, and different. A feature guests would remember and actually use. Everything is hand-built from dimensional lumber with traditional framing, no kits or CNC, and built to hold up through the full range of Colorado weather.

Design Goals

  • Create a memorable, usable feature for the Airbnb

  • Keep it playful, simple, and well-built

  • Handle year-round Colorado conditions

  • Include real climbing and sliding elements

  • Keep the flying saucer theme clean and subtle without going over the top
